Senior Engineer

Design Build Search is seeking a Senior Engineer on behalf of our client based in Cork.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading first-generation construction firm operating across Ireland, the UK, and Northern Europe. They deliver complex projects in sectors such as data centres, life sciences, and critical logistics.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring all works are delivered safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with project drawings, specifications, and relevant Building Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day technical and engineering aspects of the site, including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and participation in design team workshops.
• Ensure all quality control procedures are implemented in line with the project’s BCAR requirements.
• Coordinate and liaise with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, and quantity surveyors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support the Project/Contracts Manager to ensure project delivery aligns with programme timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
• Identify gaps in information, propose practical solutions, and collaborate with the wider team to resolve issues efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with all members of the project team and subcontractors.

Candidate Requirements

• A third-level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies and techniques.
• Proficiency in setting out, surveying, levelling, and coordinating temporary works.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and report-writing capabilities.
• Ability to plan effectively and deliver within budget and deadlines.
• Sound judgement with the ability to make decisions and escalate issues when necessary.
• Competent in MS Project or similar scheduling software, along with general IT literacy.
