Safety Advisor Dublin – Electrical & Mechanical Building Services
A well known Building Services Business in Ireland has an opportunity for a Safety Advisor. This full time, permanent role would be ideally suited to an individual with a construction or trade background. As a member of the QEHS Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of employees, protecting the environment, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. You will be a point of contact within the QEHS department and strive to foster a culture that radiates positivity, inclusivity, and continual growth for all.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs, working closely with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and sustainability
  • Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior management and following up as required to ensure that actions are dealt with in the specified timeframe
  • Develop comprehensive guidelines, processes, and documentation to ensure the company’s compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Implement and enforce required standards to safeguard the well-being of employees and protect the environment
  • Prepare and meticulously inspect Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) as well as Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) documentation to identify potential hazards and ensure safe work practices
  • Conduct thorough administrative and site audits to verify adherence to contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and EHS standards
  • Monitor compliance among specialist subcontractors, agency personnel, and direct employees to maintain a safe working environment
  • Foster relationships and maintain a positive proactive presence on-site to ensure strict compliance with EHS guidelines and regulations
  • Lead and coordinate comprehensive accident investigations, ensuring thorough and timely reporting of incidents, utilising root cause analysis techniques to identify the underlying causes of accidents and near-misses. Implement practical and realistic corrective and preventive measures to enhance EHS performance
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement effective corrective and preventive measures to mitigate the risk of future incidents
  • Ensure the company’s continued compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, including ISO14001 and ISO45001
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and standards and adapt company practices accordingly
  • Effectively manage and maintain employee training records in collaboration with the Training Department to ensure that all employees receive appropriate EHS training
  • Utilise company platforms to ensure compliance with company requirements
  • Prepare EHS reports for SMT and present reports where required, including monthly project KPI’s
  • Act as point of contact for the Head of EHS when required
  • Perform any other duties as necessary to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the business, as directed by company leadership

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Diploma to NFQ Level 8 in Occupational Health & Safety or alternatively a certificate to NFQ Level 6 in Environmental Management
  • Experience in a fast-paced commercial environment. Knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical and CSA preferably
  • Internal/Lead system Auditing including Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001) would be highly desirable
  • Up to date with Legislation, Standards, Guidance, Advice and Compliance
  • Experience with the Construction Regulations and CDM roles, with experience working with sub-contractors
  • Conscientious with a high attention to detail and an ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluent English
  • Ability to work well within strict deadlines.
  • Ability to be able to prepare Audits and EHS reports, to a high standard
  • Proactive in identifying positive and negative acts, ability to follow through with realistic corrective and preventive actions
  • Ability to lead and coordinate incident investigations and utilise root cause analysis
