Safety Advisor – Construction & Energy Sector  – Portlaoise 
Working for a highly reputable provider of construction and engineering services, we have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Safety Advisor for a project in the Carlow area. This role will support the project delivery team on the project which is currently in the early stage of construction. You will work closely with Site Managers and Project Managers and all associated project staff.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Promoting awareness of EH&S requirements throughout the project 
  • Reviews with the Senior Management Team, the EH&S system as and when required.
  • Establish and maintain the documents and data control system.
  • Manage and support the internal EH&S audit plans and coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Initiates follow-up audit activities to verify audits and record the implementation and effectiveness of the corrective and preventive actions taken.
  • Report the final result of the internal and external audits to the EH&S Manager.
  • Verify the HSE system manual and procedures.
  • Ensure the HSE Management system has been fully implemented. 
  • Supervise and monitor the employees and sub-contractors working on site to ensure their adherence to the EH&S Manual, EH&S Induction Handbook and the waste management procedures.
  • Represent the organization on the project site for any EH&S related matters.
  • Conduct incident investigations to determine the root causes and recommend means of preventing recurrence in consultation with Management.
  • Record and analyze information on first aid cases, near misses, injuries, damages and losses and review the overall HSE performance during project execution.
  • Conduct the HSE induction training for employees and subcontractor staff on-site.

Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a health and safety position within the construction industry ideally commercial building construction projects
  • A third level qualification in health and safety/occupational health and safety.
  • Understanding of ISO Management Procedures & Implementation.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated 
  • Excellent computer skills – proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
