Safety Advisor – Construction Industry – Groningen – Netherlands
One of Europe’s leading building contractors has an exceptional opportunity as a Health & Safety Advisor in Groningen, Netherlands on a 17/4 rotation with weekends off. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. Working on rotation you will need to be able to manage safety on the site on your own during rotation break. There will be lifting and cranes as well as electrical works on a data centre. 

Key Duties You Will Get Training On

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Help in ensuring compliance with Irish health and safety legislation.
  • Participate in the preparation and updating of safety statements, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Implement the company’s health, safety, quality and environmental policy, procedures and policies.
  • Advising and assisting site management in drafting and communicating Method Statements, Safe Plans of Action and Toolbox Talks.
  • Support site teams in adhering to EHS policies and procedures.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits under supervision. Assist in the follow-up required to ensure that actions are dealt with immediately.
  • Assist with accident/incident investigations and reporting, ensuring corrective actions are followed up.
  • Maintain EHS records, reports, training logs, and registers.
  • Assist in compiling EHS performance metrics and dashboards.
  • Prepare safety documentation and reports.
  • Promote a proactive EHS culture through internal communications and awareness campaigns.
  • Liaise with employees and contractors to encourage engagement with safety practices.
  • Support environmental monitoring activities such as waste management, energy tracking, and pollution prevention.

Skills / Experience required for the role:

  • A third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field. (Ideally Honors Degree level)
  • Experience on site, boots on the ground, proactive safety advisor for electrical, cranes and heavy lifting works 
  • A genuine interest in health & safety and a desire to develop a long-term career in EHS.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel to Groningen on a 17/4 Roster, weekends are off 
  • Good communication and organisational skills, engagement out on site, plenty of site walks during the day 
  • Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and good time management
  • Adaptable and solutions driven
  • Able to work in a team environment or on own initiative.
  • Excellent IT skills and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite
  • Can work in Groningen, fly to Amsterdam
