Environment & Quality Manager – Agriculture & Food Industry Kildare 
An organisation that uses anaerobic digestion to convert food and food production waste into renewable biogas, electricity and high quality organic fertiliser. This organisation has a holistic approach to tackling the climate crisis. 
They use anaerobic digestion to capture greenhouse gases from slurry and decomposing food waste, then use it to produce renewable electricity. This business also works with local farmers to optimize spreading of the pasteurised, nutrient rich organic fertiliser ‘digestate’, to improve soil health and reduce reliance on fossil-fuel derived chemical fertilisers. Due to an increase in project workload there is an opportunity for an Environment and Quality Manager based at a site in Kildare. 

Responsibilities:

  • Full compliance of the site’s EPA licence, DAFM conditions, NWCPO permit and all the

       related communication with relevant external bodies;

  • Maintain ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards and work towards recertification.
  • Able to work with and as part of our compliance team.
  • Assist on ISO 45001 management system implementation and future certification.
  • Communicate and compile reports for the Environmental Protection Agency, NWCPO and

        DAFM.

  • Maintain, implement, and manage environmental policies & management systems.
  • Update quality and environmental procedures, manuals, and record forms to continually

         improve the impact of the organisation on the environment and the satisfaction of customers/clients.

  • Monitor and assess emissions to ensure compliance with the EPA licence.
  • Daily site walks to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance. ∙
  • Weekly environmental checks, including odour assessments.
  • Work as part of a team communicating with both internal and external employees and

        contractors. Evaluate providers performance and suitability.

  • Prepare environmental reports including the Annual Environmental Report, Environmental

        Performance Report and National Waste Collection Permit Office return.

  • Regular compiling of data for International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. 
  • Conduct regular sampling and laboratory analysis as per EPA and DAFM requirements.

Experience with the EPA and Department of Agriculture is a must as well as the quality management system knowledge as the business is certified to both.
