About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Design Coordinator to play a key role in managing the design process for complex construction and engineering projects. Working closely with internal teams and external consultants, you will coordinate design activities to ensure timely, accurate and fully integrated design solutions that align with the project brief, programme and budget.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically challenging projects across sectors such as data centres, advanced manufacturing, food production, logistics, and pharmaceuticals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the design process from concept through to construction, ensuring all designs are technically sound, compliant, and buildable.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams to ensure design intent is maintained.
- Monitor design development and manage the flow of information between disciplines using relevant platforms (e.g. CDE, BIM 360).
- Attend and lead design coordination meetings and workshops to resolve technical issues.
- Review and comment on design drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with the project scope and contract requirements.
- Work alongside the BIM team to ensure 3D models are integrated and reflect coordinated design outputs.
- Assist in the development of design packages in line with project milestones and construction programmes.
- Ensure all design risk assessments and CDM responsibilities are met.
- Support procurement by ensuring design information is sufficiently detailed for subcontractor engagement.
Key Requirements:
- Relevant third-level qualification in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction-related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a design coordination role within the construction or building services industry.
- Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary design processes (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical).
- Familiarity with BIM processes and coordination using software such as Revit, Navisworks, or similar.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and conflicting priorities.
- Knowledge of relevant building regulations and standards.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and issue resolution.
Desirable:
- Experience working on data centre, pharma, or industrial projects.
- Understanding of DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly).
- Experience with design management tools such as Aconex, Viewpoint or similar.
