Design Build Search are working with a leading retail client who continue to expand their EV division throughout Ireland, UK and the US. They have an opening for a Architectural Technician in their West Dublin office. The successful applicant will lead the technical design aspects of the Electric Vehicles (EV) projects across the Group. The transition to EV is a key strategic priority for our client.
This role provides a broader and exciting opportunity to propose, review and assess future site/hub opportunities and share with the Acquisition teams. Specifically looking at traffic flows, site locations, access, zonings/land use which requires the operation of a simple GIS/mapping and demographic use assessing various road networks and sites.
The role is ideal for someone seeking to scale the organisation and grow their influence on the overall business. The candidate will be responsible for producing site layouts, principal building layouts, consulting/guiding the supporting consultants (planners, Engineers and Architects) drawing packages and the constant challenge of resolving technical design queries.
Key Responsibilities:
- To lead the electric team in delivering efficient and effective site and building layouts.
- Preliminary site sketch design for green and brown field sites while ensuring the business goals fit within the specific model. This will require the ability to use online mapping software to establish ownership of lands etc, sourcing information in relation to existing site information but utilising virtual county council websites.
- Constant liaison with the Business Development team to design and evolve preliminary designs that align with the commercial business case
- Co-ordinating and reviewing of Site Surveys
- Drafting of preliminary site layouts with regards to site levels – ensuring the most efficient construction cost with the provided topography of sites (High level Cut/Fill calculation)
- Vehicle tracking analysis to ensure all manoeuvring on site is possible.
- (not essential) 3D design of sites – to produce 3D video fly throughs for public engagement, and standalone CGIs, video editing software would be an advantage
- In house preliminary design of buildings prior to engaging to external consultants / contractors.
- Drafting and Reviewing building layouts to ensure compliance with fire, disability and generally all technical requirements.
- To be the ley liaison for the Architects and Engineers for general layout queries and design challenges.
- Coordination of the site design aspects with the various professional teams of Architects and Engineers to ensure our design requirements are met.
- Document management and control
Education, Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years technical architectural experience, preferentially in a civils environment.
- Advanced skills and experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch up, Vehicle Tracking, Microsoft Office (Excel, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook, Powerpoint),
- Advantageous to have an ability to use some of the following software programmes; Photoshop, Infraworks, Civil 3D, Enscape 3d render, Movavi video editing, Wix Website design.
- General knowledge of the building regulations
- General knowledge of the overall planning process is a benefit
- Experience working in a professional design office beneficial
- Knowledge of roads design beneficial
- Reviewing site opportunities with regards to Zoning, planning and traffic flows in the UK/US and Ireland and any future markets we enter.
- Working closely with the Acquisition teams on pitches to Land Owners, Local Authorities requiring quality imagery of the proposed development including elevations, internal layouts and site layout.
- Supporting the team for internal board reports and meetings with material as required.
