MEP Project Manager – Data Centre Construction

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to oversee the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) aspects of a large-scale, nine-storey data centre project in London Docklands. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing MEP infrastructure, coordinating installation, and ensuring high-quality delivery of critical building systems in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all MEP aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with design specifications, budgets, and timelines.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and integration of MEP systems, including electrical, HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing.
• Work closely with the main contractor, design consultants, and specialist MEP subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
• Ensure all MEP works align with regulatory and safety standards, particularly in mission-critical data centre environments.
• Manage risk, quality control, and troubleshooting across all MEP activities.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including the client, engineers, and senior management, to provide progress updates and resolve technical issues.
• Oversee site inspections and testing procedures for MEP systems prior to project handover.
• Implement best practices in energy efficiency, sustainability, and resilience to enhance data centre operations.
• Project Scope:
• The data centre project will be delivered in phases and includes:
• Large diameter pile installation, ground beam substructure, and pile caps.
• Heavy structural steel frame construction (9 floors).
• Composite cladding and outer rainscreen installation.
• Two precast concrete central core areas.
• Full fit-out of data halls on Level 1 & 2, with associated plant and critical infrastructure.
• Below-ground drainage and essential services installation.
• Construction of a link bridge to the existing campus north building.
• Development of a single-storey security gatehouse.

 
Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in MEP project management within data centres or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of base build, fit-out, and critical infrastructure in high-value construction projects.
• Expertise in managing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems in mission-critical facilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with UK construction regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
