Due to an increase in project workload there is a unique opportunity for a Sustainability Advisor who will assist construction operations ensuring compliance with regulations and delivery of activities aligned to project key performance indicators and targeted certifications. 
They will deliver the day-to-day responsibilities for assigned construction sites such as undertaking environmental  audits, preparing sustainability data, engaging with external stakeholders for social value opportunities and working  with certification consultants (for example BREEAM). The role will report directly to the Head of ESG and Sustainability and will be a member of a wider sustainability function  that serves all business functions and needs. 
Responsibilities: 

  • Key contact for assigned projects / teams – as the sustainability subject matter expert providing technical advice  and guidance. 
  • Support project teams in discharging their environmental, social and sustainability related planning conditions,  and delivery of organisation KPIs 
  • Undertake regular site visits and inspections on assigned projects to ensure environmental compliance and best  practice 
  • Writing and communication of site project environmental and sustainability documentation such as construction environment management plans and pollution incident response plans 
  • Identifies and reviews social value project requirements and opportunities. Supports the delivery of social value  initiatives. 
  • Organise Considerate Constructor requirements and prepare the sites for audits and compliance with the standard. 
  • Reports progress and performance to the wider sustainability function and share best practices and learning  opportunities 
  • Prepare emissions information and support consultants and project stakeholders to reduce operational and  embodied emissions 

Building & Project Certification 

  • Support project teams in understanding certification requirements (such as BREEAM, LEED) and achieving targeted credits  
  • Engage with supply chain and relevant roles to ensure requirements and evidence for certifications are discharged  / collected in a timely manner. 
  • Supports the maintenance of a compliance and certification tracker that collates, records, and references a robust  and auditable trail of information as evidence of compliance for project certifications 
  • Actively manages and supports the management of the assessment process in line with industry guidance and with the input from the project team. 
  • Supports knowledge sharing and process improvement practices across the business, to ensure a high level of efficiency on BREEAM projects

To Be Considered 

  • Experience in a similar role 
  • A degree or similar in an environmental, social or

        governance discipline

  • ISO14001 internal auditor (Desirable)
  • CSCS card (relevant to role)
  • BREEAM Accredited Professional
  • Carbon literacy or emissions accounting
  • qualification for example LCA (Desirable)
  • Construction Industry Experience 
  • Current valid driving licence
