Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct aftercare calls for handed-over and legacy projects, assist in scheduling, and record findings using construction-based software for analysis by quality and commercial teams.
  • Collaborate with aftercare, procurement, and quality teams to source and cost parts as per the project’s aftercare policy.
  • Identify problematic products or materials, liaise with suppliers to correct defects, and provide feedback to procurement and construction teams.
  • Participate in quality and supervisors’ meetings, providing insights into recurring aftercare issues to enhance quality systems at the contract stage.
  • Perform commissioning on various systems, including air source heat pumps, exhaust air heat pumps, HIUs, electric heating systems, and ventilation systems, ensuring all documentation is completed for handover (specialist training provided).
  • Conduct pre-commissioning checks to confirm readiness, flag incomplete works, and ensure no delays in commissioning.
  • Balance and commission ventilation systems in residential properties according to design specifications and prepare handover paperwork.
  • Coordinate with ventilation validation companies to address discrepancies and ensure compliance with BCAR handover dates.
  • Assist in scheduling specialist commissioning companies as required.
  • Work with quality and operations teams to set up and manage plant maintenance contracts, liaising with external stakeholders.
  • Carry out plant maintenance services on-site, recording findings via construction software for distribution to relevant parties.
  • Identify and report remedial works during maintenance and ensure adequate information is provided for costing.
  • Attend regular training with suppliers and industry specialists to stay up to date with relevant processes.
  • Provide troubleshooting and fault-finding support to contract teams during construction phases, as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required by management.

 
Person Specification:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an Aftercare or Commissioning Engineer, or a similar role.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Plumbing.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organisational abilities, including task prioritisation and delegation where necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet project objectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and construction-based software (e.g., Procore).
  • Full, clean driving licence and flexibility to travel across multiple site locations.
